Note: The name of the person who visited me in Norway has been replaced with "the Canadian woman", Her sister in law that is a breeder and member of The Canadian Cat Association, The International Cat Association, The International Bengal Cat Society, The Bengal Cat Connection and member of a local cat club has been replaced with "the sister in law". The name of the sister in law's 16 year old daughter is changed to "NN". |
- “We own desdemona and fandango and paid almost three grand for them total--wtf? Richard got that money no problem i have receipts and emails”
- We paid almost $3000 for those cats
One of the reasons Sherri came to Norway was to take the kitten Desdemona back to Canada. Rebecca and Darryl wanted to buy that kitten for the cattery they were starting called Zallycatz. Before Sherri came to Norway she said Darryl insisted on paying through Western Union. I told her that this would be very inconvenient! We would need to drive to Ski, park the car, walk down to the train station and take the train to Oslo. Then we need to find the damn Western Union office, fill out a stupid form and wait in line. It will cost us about $38 CAD to get to Oslo and back. We will probably waste a minimum of about 3 hours on this ridiculous affair. Why on earth does your brother Darryl insist on using Western Union? I asked why he couldn’t just give Sherri the money in a sealed envelope or put it in her bank account! She replied
“He does not want me to have anything at all to do with that money.”
So, when Sherri came, we drove to Ski, parked the car, bought a train ticket and waited. When the train came we got on it and waited. When we got to Oslo we walked around and eventually found a Western Union office. We filled out a form, my name, address, telephone number, passport number person number etc. and the name of the sender Darryl. We took a number and waited, and waited. When our turn came up we didn’t get the money. The name of the sender Darryl was not correct! Sherri started arguing with the teller and started a guessing game, “Well is it Darryl’s middle name then”? The teller shook her head silently. Sherri began to argue and said “It’s my brother that sent the money!” The teller stepped back from the counter a little and shrugged her shoulders. I had to intervene by moving very close to the Sherry while thanking the teller as politely as I could. This opened up space for the next person in line to come forward. Immediately after we got out the door the Sherri referred to the teller repeatedly as a “fucking Bitch”.
She insisted on finding another Western Union office. I tried to explain
to her that that would not help, the name was wrong. You cannot
intimidate them into giving you money unless you have a gun! She
insisted so we waddled down to the Western Union in the bus station,
filled out the form and got in line. The results were of course the
same. Again Sherri argued and again I had to intervene. There were
people waiting in line and I think some of the tellers had their finger
near the alarm button. I found both episodes very embarrassing. Then we
went to the train station and I gave Sherri money to get on the
internet. She borrowed my mobile phone and made several calls to Canada.
Eventually it got sorted out. Someone in Canada made a mistake with the
sender’s name. The money $1043.32 (5.400 kroner) was transferred to my
account. We wasted 8 hours on this ridiculous Bullshit!
Why did Darryl adamantly refuse to send the money with Sherri? You may think because Darryl would have proof of payment in case I ripped him off.
Let us say, for the sake of argument, I rip him off. The money is transferred to my account and I don’t give Sherri the kitten. What would happen? Would Sherri get mad, perhaps threaten me? I could say “Ok I’ll ring the bank.” I could instead call the police and say I have an obese destitute persona non grata that vandalized my kitchen and is threatening me. They would come and probably cart her off to a refugee reception center where she would stay and spend her $0.66 (Canadian) until her return flight.
Had I received the money directly from her, not provided the kitten and was in possession of the money there is a chance the police could help her. I say “chance” because it is not certain that the police would have any legal means, in the situation, to confiscate anything in my possession, particularly if I denied, or refused to comment about receiving money.
In the case where the money is received via Western Union from her brother, Sherri has ZERO chance of recovering any of the money. I could even admit to ripping off her brother! Neither the police (nor Sherri) would have any legal right whatsoever to touch that money even if it was lying in front of their noses on my kitchen table! Darryl would have to get a lawyer! Just to get a lawyer to familiarize him/herself with the case and write me a letter in Norwegian asking me to kindly provide the kitten or pay back the $1043.32 is going to cost more than $1043.32! The cost of taking such a case to court, translate documents to Norwegian – English and vice versa would be astronomical relative to the loss. Even if he won, it would cost him more than $1043.32 in the long run. The long run can be very long indeed. There are many things that can delay important (cough) court cases like this.
Conclusion is that, even though Darryl’s chance of recovering the money from me, if I chose to rip him off is less than zero, he considered the risk of sending the money in a sealed envelope with his own sister Sherri, large enough to pay $43 extra to send it directly to me via Western Union! Bottom line, he was very concerned Sherri would steal the money.
- “Get over yourself!!!
...
Get over yourself!!!
Don't bug my friend the sister in law. She doesn't care about any of this, nor does she want you sending her emails from “Martha”. She is trying to be nice to you giving you update pictures, so how about you leave her alone. It has been 5 monthes since she bought those cats from you and we all know that you aren't going to send the orignal paper work or you would have already.
I sent messages to sharon because she is hung up on you. I felt sorry for her and tried to make her realize that you aren't worth her misery. Not because I am jealous! Please get a grip, I haven't talked to you in over a month. This will be the last you hear from me.”
Received 19.07.2008.
As to the original documents the correct procedure was to be that when I had the
address of the new owner I would pay the Norwegian cat organization (NRR) to
make a transfer document such that the cat would be Canadian and send these
documents to the new owner. I was going to wait until I got the documents for
the E litter so I could send them all at once. In any case the original pedigree
and transfer for Fandango and Desdemona were sent on Saturday.
The Canadian woman will NOT be getting the documents for Dancing or any of the E litter any
time soon.
