Hi Richard!
Just wanted to check with you directly about the kitty--the Canadian woman quoted me $850.00 Canadian plus the $25.00 Canadian for the Health forms to be converted into English. She also said that you would accept Western Union (converted into kroner of course) and just wanted to make sure that was ok.

Thanks,
Hope you and the kitties are well! Take care,

the sister in law
PS.

I ordered a pedigree with the name *Desdemona. *

The kitten is in good health and is unusually social and contact
seeking. I will take some pictures soon.

Noooo--i just got your email this morning--sent you like three emails or something. I can't go until Thursday--maybe tomorrow after my doctor's appt if (the sister in laws husband) has time but for sure Thurs. I'm watching the kids till late because Toad has to take Jonny to the clinic and Dovey has vet's at 6:30 tonight plus i have to go feed the cats at some point. Tomorrow (the sister in laws husband) has to work after work so unless he can take me in the morning it'll have to be Thurs.
I tried to do it online through WU but they won't let me send more than $500 Canadian because i'm new and the total -- 5000 krona +400 krona (your eighty) came to $1128 Can. so no go on that--i have to go into the office to do it.

I'll email you after i talk to (the sister in laws husband) later anyways.

Went and looked at the vids at Richards youtube--those kitties are so cute!
Can't wait to show NN after school

Richard, the money has been sent--you can pick it up at any Western Union in Oslo and it should be there immediately--the number for pickup is:  MTCN: 343-949-1580  --in the name of Richard Norton.
Total is 5400 krona--5000 for Desdemona and 400 for the Canadian woman/the vet bill you had to cover.
Thanks and if you have any problems let me know cause i have all the paperwork here.
    Take care,

Comment from Richard Norton: Here we see that I received 5000 NOK or $ 898.00 for Desdemona. the Canadian woman took a third cat Fandango, back to Canada to sell. After a few days she sold Fandango to her brother (the sister in laws husband). My share was ~6500 nok = ~ 1262.87 CAD. 898+1262.87 gives a grand total of $2160.87.
In numerous insulting comments from the sister in law we read:

We own desdemona and fandango and paid almost three grand for them total--wtf? Richard got that money no problem i have receipts and emails

We paid almost $3000 for those cats

Well you know WTF? I never got “almost three grand”! I don’t like such discrepancies and exaggerations. So you are going to put your money where your mouth is! It is now an additional demand that you in fact pay what you claim so vocally to have paid before any upgrading of these pedigrees will take place.

Comment from Richard Norton: The Western Union Bull Shit Fiasco.

  • One of the reasons Sherri came to Norway was to take the kitten Desdemona back to Canada. Rebecca and Darryl wanted to buy that kitten for the cattery they were starting called Zallycatz. Before Sherri came to Norway she said Darryl insisted on paying through Western Union. I told her that this would be very inconvenient! We would need to drive to Ski, park the car, walk down to the train station and take the train to Oslo. Then we need to find the damn Western Union office, fill out a stupid form and wait in line. It will cost us about $38 CAD to get to Oslo and back. We will probably waste a minimum of about 3 hours on this ridiculous affair. Why on earth does your brother Darryl insist on using Western Union? I asked why he couldn’t just give Sherri the money in a sealed envelope or put it in her bank account! She replied

“He does not want me to have anything at all to do with that money.”

So, when Sherri came, we drove to Ski, parked the car, bought a train ticket and waited. When the train came we got on it and waited. When we got to Oslo we walked around and eventually found a Western Union office. We filled out a form, my name, address, telephone number, passport number person number etc. and the name of the sender Darryl. We took a number and waited, and waited. When our turn came up we didn’t get the money. The name of the sender Darryl was not correct! Sherri started arguing with the teller and started a guessing game, “Well is it Darryl’s middle name then”? The teller shook her head silently. Sherri began to argue and said “It’s my brother that sent the money!” The teller stepped back from the counter a little and shrugged her shoulders. I had to intervene by moving very close to the Sherry while thanking the teller as politely as I could. This opened up space for the next person in line to come forward. Immediately after we got out the door the Sherri referred to the teller repeatedly as a “fucking Bitch”.

She insisted on finding another Western Union office. I tried to explain to her that that would not help, the name was wrong. You cannot intimidate them into giving you money unless you have a gun! She insisted so we waddled down to the Western Union in the bus station, filled out the form and got in line. The results were of course the same. Again Sherri argued and again I had to intervene. There were people waiting in line and I think some of the tellers had their finger near the alarm button. I found both episodes very embarrassing. Then we went to the train station and I gave Sherri money to get on the internet. She borrowed my mobile phone and made several calls to Canada. Eventually it got sorted out. Someone in Canada made a mistake with the sender’s name. The money $1043.32 (5.400 kroner) was transferred to my account. We wasted 8 hours on this ridiculous Bullshit!

Why did Darryl adamantly refuse to send the money with Sherri? You may think because Darryl would have proof of payment in case I ripped him off.

Let us say, for the sake of argument, I rip him off. The money is transferred to my account and I don’t give Sherri the kitten. What would happen? Would Sherri get mad, perhaps threaten me? I could say “Ok I’ll ring the bank.” I could instead call the police and say I have an obese destitute persona non grata that vandalized my kitchen and is threatening me. They would come and probably cart her off to a refugee reception center where she would stay and spend her $0.66 (Canadian) until her return flight.

Had I received the money directly from her, not provided the kitten and was in possession of the money there is a chance the police could help her. I say “chance” because it is not certain that the police would have any legal means, in the situation, to confiscate anything in my possession, particularly if I denied, or refused to comment about receiving money.

In the case where the money is received via Western Union from her brother, Sherri has ZERO chance of recovering any of the money. I could even admit to ripping off her brother! Neither the police (nor Sherri) would have any legal right whatsoever to touch that money even if it was lying in front of their noses on my kitchen table! Darryl would have to get a lawyer! Just to get a lawyer to familiarize him/herself with the case and write me a letter in Norwegian asking me to kindly provide the kitten or pay back the $1043.32 is going to cost more than $1043.32! The cost of taking such a case to court, translate documents to Norwegian – English and vice versa would be astronomical relative to the loss. Even if he won, it would cost him more than $1043.32 in the long run. The long run can be very long indeed. There are many things that can delay important (cough) court cases like this.

Conclusion is that, even though Darryl’s chance of recovering the money from me, if I chose to rip him off is less than zero, he considered the risk of sending the money in a sealed envelope with his own sister Sherri, large enough to pay $43 extra to send it directly to me via Western Union! Bottom line, he was very concerned Sherri would steal the money.

Just thought i should let you know that we had to take Desdemona to the vet for her eye yesterday morning and she told me to make sure you knew about it in case any of your babies gets it. She has the "pink eye" or Conjunctivitis--taking drops three times a day--but today she is waaaaay better than yesterday! I was lucky and my vet knows me so she got me in first thing in the morning. She also did the dna blood work just to make sure that everything else was good and i'll hear on Tuesday about that. Desdemona was a really good girl, purring the whole time, they loved her!  NN has been great helping me put the drops in her eyes.

Don't worry, she is blocked from all the other kitties and is staying in NN's room just so you know--and everyone else is fine.

Desdemona's mother Agatha had such symptoms with her eyes early November. I immediately isolated her. Some of the other cats got it, in spite of the fact they were vaccinated for it, They were isolated into 4 separate groups. Desdemona and Dancing were born and had some symptoms. ALL the cats were treated with Terramycin in the eye and cats under 1 year were treated with imacillin. It is wise to keep them separate as it is rather contagious.
Desdemona is an unusually sosial cat.

(the sister in laws husband) wants to sign up for health insurance for the two of them and since they are purebred we need them.

    the sister in law

Now I’m back home from a sort of vacation in Denmark and have a little more time. Fandango is looking very nice and the girl you got for him looks like a good choice. It would be nice to see some pics of Desdemona. She was an unusually friendly kitten.

I finally got the original pedigree and transfer for Fandango and Desdemona. You need these documents if you are going to sell them or breed. There seems to be some problem between the Canadian woman and me so I prefer to send these documents directly to you. Could you send me your address and I’ll try to send them next week.

As to the Canadian woman, no, she has not sent me pics of the E-boys at they're new homes. I had no idea they were sold! I sent her an e-mail and a private message on her YouTube channel asking about that but have not received any reply. She has recently made a negative public comment as a reply to another person’s comment about me on her YouTube channel. When I replied she deleted the comments. I don’t know the reason for this sudden change of heart but it seems to correlate in time to my activities in Denmark with a charming young woman.

I was contacted by “Martha”, the person that the Canadian woman sold Eros to. She was very dissatisfied and wanted her money back because Eros was very skittish and asocial. According to her there was “a written guarantee that if we wanted to return him for any reason we could for a full refund.” “Martha” expressed her dissatisfaction in a manner that left no room for misunderstanding; however she did so in a tactful and respectful manor.

She sent me copies of email correspondence between the Canadian woman and her which I, quite frankly, find rather disturbing. From what I can see from the correspondence “Martha”  has behaved in a tactful manner. the Canadian woman has not. Such phrases as:

“You are talking out your ass and don't have a clue. Could you be anymore dramatic?”

“I am realizing you are acting like a spoiled princess and I bet you are use to having your way.”

“I can tell that I was right about you, you are going to stomp your feet and have a tantrum aren't you princess.”

    are indeed offensive and insulting.

“Martha” should get her money back! I don’t know how much of the $500 the Canadian woman intended to give to me but I want “Martha” to have my share. I understand that “Martha” has found a new home for Eros and in my opinion Eros should remain there.

I was quite saddened to read the Canadian woman’s claim that she rescued these kittens from my cattery.

“I saved Eros and his brothers from a life in a cage. All Richards cats are caged most of the time, all 19 of them. My clean appartment was a definate improvement for them.”

With this she shoots herself in the foot. She de-facto admits to selling a kitten that has been subjected to substandard conditions for the major portion if its life. Precisely the conditions that one would expect to result in unsocial and skittish behavior - without informing the buyer!

You (and or the Canadian woman) may find it a bit improper that I sent you this. I do it anyway because you are a close friend of the Canadian woman’s and sometimes we need a close friend to tell us that our behavior sucks.

    Mvh

    Richard

The following is the correspondence between “Martha” and the Canadian woman. The newest are on top so it should be read from the bottom up.

    Hey the sister in law

I do indeed understand and respect the fact that the Canadian woman is your best friend and that you are in the middle. I will continue to keep you informed but I will NEVER explicitly inform her that any info is sent to you. She will however know that a large number of people will know about this fraud. This way you know what is going on and when you feel you have the opportunity, hopefully are able to guide her down the right path without damaging your friendship.

We agreed that I would ship 4 kittens to her, Eros, Einstein, Ernest and Erik. The deal was that we would split on the shipping cost ($960 CAD) and anything over $1.384 CAD she could keep. That is the price I sell kittens for in Norway which is ca. half the normal price. Normal price for males is $2.769 and females $1.978. the Canadian woman told me about 2 months ago that she was having problems selling them and some of them were getting skittish.

I have not received money at all from these 4 kittens, zero! I have also paid for micro chipping, veterinary documents ect. I respect the fact that she had trouble selling them but that I end up with zero is a total rip-off.

Most likely advertising and selling these cats as purebreds, without the proper documents, is fraud. Dumping Eros like she did is NOT the way to sell kittens.

The following is a message I received from her a few days ago:

    “Get over yourself!!!

    ...

    Get over yourself!!!

Don't bug my friend the sister in law. She doesn't care about any of this, nor does she want you sending her emails from “Martha”. She is trying to be nice to you giving you update pictures, so how about you leave her alone. It has been 5 monthes since she bought those cats from you and we all know that you aren't going to send the orignal paper work or you would have already.
I sent messages to sharon because she is hung up on you. I felt sorry for her and tried to make her realize that you aren't worth her misery. Not because I am jealous! Please get a grip, I haven't talked to you in over a month. This will be the last you hear from me.”

    Received 19.07.2008.

As to the original documents the correct procedure was to be that when I had the address of the new owner I would pay the Norwegian cat organization (NRR) to make a transfer document such that the cat would be Canadian and send these documents to the new owner. I was going to wait until I got the documents for the E litter so I could send them all at once. In any case the original pedigree and transfer for Fandango and Desdemona were sent on Saturday.

The Canadian woman will NOT be getting the documents for Dancing or any of the E litter any time soon.

    Mvh
